History of Arkansas Courts

Arkansas was the 25th state admitted to the union in 1836, and the state first created a supreme court with three justices. Later, the constitution was ratified in 1874 to increase the number of justices to five. Future amendments allowed for up to seven justices, which is how many currently serve the court. These justices are elected to the bench to serve eight-year terms.

Arkansas Main Court Information
